• Organizing your Recyclables

Challenge

Rumpke only accepts a limited range of recyclables curbside. Items like plastic bags, packaging, food containers, and aluminum trays must be taken to the Cincinnati Reuse Recycle Hub. This monthly 35-minute trip requires careful storage and sorting of these recyclables.

Solution

We created a recycling system with two labeled bins: 'Rumpke' and 'Hub.' A small bucket attached to the 'Hub' bin is perfect for capturing tiny recyclables, making sorting a breeze. Check out the image below!
Once a week, on Rumpke pickup day, we sort Hub recyclables into specific categories: Store Drop-offs, Flexible Films, Hard Plastics (#1, #5, #6), Styrofoam, and Aluminum. This organized approach makes the monthly Hub trip more efficient.
