Thank You for Turning Trash into Treasure with Us!
This past Saturday at the Mason Public Library, something truly special happened. We saw our community come together, ready to transform kitchen scraps into garden gold. Thank you to everyone who joined our "From Trash to Treasure" composting class!

Remember that inspiring Recycle: It’s more than just trash! class at the library? Well, it seems we ignited a spark in one young mind, and the results are truly impressive!
Meet Arjun Valathappan, an 10-year-old dynamo who took everything he learned and turned his home into a mini-recycling center!
Arjun wasn’t just taking notes; he was taking action. After the class, he marched home with a mission: minimize his family’s contribution to landfills. His first step? Color-coded collection bags! No more confusion – Rumpke, recycling hub, and store drop-off each have their designated spot. But Arjun didn’t stop there.
Remember the GCTS Deepavali event? Arjun, ever the resourceful eco-warrior, collected all the used foam cups & plastic spoons along with other eco-friendly volunteers, giving them a second chance at life. And that wasn’t all! He even set up a compost bin right on the kitchen counter, turning food scraps into nutrient-rich soil. Talk about dedication!
Arjun’s story is a heartwarming reminder that even small actions can make a big difference! He’s not just sorting his trash; he’s actively learning about responsible waste management and inspiring others to do the same. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t be proud of a kid who’s more passionate about recycling than the latest video game?
Here are some key takeaways from Arjun’s journey:
Education is key: The library class provided Arjun with the knowledge and tools to take action. It’s a testament to the power of accessible environmental education.
Kids are changemakers: Don’t underestimate the power of young minds. Arjun’s story shows that even children can be passionate advocates for environmental responsibility.
Small steps, big impact: Every little bit counts. Arjun’s dedication to sorting, composting, and repurposing shows that even small changes can have a significant impact.
So, the next time you feel discouraged about the state of our environment, remember Arjun, the 10-year-old who’s making a difference, one recycled foam cup, one plastic spoon and compost bin at a time. His story is a reminder that we all have the power to be changemakers, no matter our age or background. Let’s get inspired by him and start making our own positive impact on the planet!
Together, we can empower the next generation of eco-warriors!
