Recycle: It's more than just trash Class a Huge Success!
On Saturday, Feb 24th, 2024 at the Mason Public Library, the air was buzzing with excitement and a shared purpose to learn how to recycle like a pro and make a real difference for our planet. A huge thank you to everyone who joined our free recycling class, led by the inspiring Subha Karthik!

The Bigger Picture
Recycling isn’t just about individual actions – it’s about systemic change. Every properly sorted item contributes to:
Environmental Impact
- Reduced landfill waste and methane emissions
- Conserved natural resources like trees, water, and minerals
- Lower carbon footprint from manufacturing new products
- Protected wildlife habitats from resource extraction
What was taught in the class
- Proper sorting techniques for different materials
- Local recycling infrastructure and what happens to your recyclables
- Common mistakes that contaminate recycling streams
- Creative ways to reduce waste before it becomes trash
- How to advocate for better recycling in your community
Learning to Recycle with a Pro
Participants of all ages came together, eager to understand the ins and outs of recycling. Subha’s engaging presentation was a springboard for fantastic discussions on why recycling matters. We were all captivated by the facts, which sparked a lot of great questions.
The learning went far beyond theory. We dove into the practical side, giving everyone the knowledge to sort their waste properly, understand which materials can and cannot be recycled, and where to take them. It was empowering to see how a little knowledge can go a long way in turning our unwanted items into valuable resources.
A Community with a Shared Purpose
As the class came to a close, a strong sense of community and purpose emerged. We connected attendees with local recycling programs and resources, empowering them to take action right in their own neighborhoods.
This is just the beginning! We are excited to continue inspiring and empowering individuals to become champions for our planet. If you missed this class, don’t worry! We plan to hold more sessions in the future, so stay tuned for upcoming announcements.
